Setting up Draytek router(FTTP)

In this guide we will look at connecting a Draytek router to your Swift Ultrafast full-fibre FTTP service.

After installation you will have an ONT or Optical Network Terminal mounted on the wall which converts the fibre to ethernet. Connect this to the WAN1 port on your Draytek with an ethernet patch cable.

Connect to the router using wifi or using an ethernet cable to one of the Vigor’s LAN ports and wait for an IP address to be assigned by the router, then access the router’s web admin page. This by default will be https://192.168.1.1 on Draytek routers.

We then need to go to [WAN] > [General Setup] and check the WAN port configuration. It should be enabled and set to Always On. After checking this we need to enter our Swift connection details by going to [WAN] > [Internet Access].

First make sure ‘Access Mode‘ is set to PPPoE and then click on ‘Details Page‘ and perform the following steps:

  • Select Enable
  • In the ISP Access Setup section:
  1. Leave the Service Name field blank
  2. Enter you username supplied by swift
  3. Enter you username supplied by swift

Save your settings and restart the router. Congratulations you should now be connected to Swift Ultrafast full-fibre!
